FAQ

Is it free to enter Smorgasburg?

Yes. Smorgasburg is free to attend and open to all ages.

Is Smorgasburg open every weekend, even if it's a holiday?

Yes. Smorgasburg is open every Saturday and Sunday from April through October.

What should I bring?

Free water-filling stations are located within the markets. Please bring a refillable water bottle. Disposable water bottles are not allowed inside Smorgasburg.

Other recommended items include sunscreen when it's sunny, an umbrella if there's rain in the forecast, a picnic blanket, cash, and some friends.

What if there's a forecast for rain?

The market is open rain or shine. The forecast changes all the time and vendors are encouraged to come every weekend, regardless of forecast. In the event of an all-day, total downpour, don't expect all of the vendors to be set up, as some may opt not to come.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are not allowed on Saturday in East River State Park, due to New York State Park rules. Only ADA companion animals will be permitted. Pets, including dogs, are welcome at the Sunday market in Prospect Park.

Is the market cash-only?

Vendors accept cash and some accept debit or credit cards. There are ATMs on site at all of our locations; the transaction fee is $2.50.

Is there alcohol served at Smorgasburg?

Yes. Smorgasburg has a bar with beer, wine, and cocktails on Saturdays and Sundays. You must be 21+ with a valid state ID or passport to purchase and consume alcohol. The beer gardens/licensed areas are family-friendly, which means children are allowed with parents.

Are there options for special diets?

Yes. Many vendors offer items that are gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, kosher, and more. Some vendors specialize in these options, and many include alternatives on their regular menus. We suggest asking individual vendors to see if they have anything that suits your dietary needs.
